Malay joined Western Assurance Company Ltd. of Canada in their Calcutta office in the year 1972. The company was nationalised and merged with National Insurance Company head quartered at Kolkata.

Malay left National in the year 2004 as Regional Manager, Mumbai Region II after 32 years of continuous service. During these long years with National he managed many profit centres and handled wide varieties of risks ranging from Property /Casualty to Petrochemical to Construction risks.

He worked for Willis in India as Head of Reinsurance Practice and later on as Director, HSBC Insurance Brokers (India) which merged with Marsh India. During his tenure at the HSBC Insurance Brokers he had considerable exposure in the subject of Title Insurance while trying to introduce the product in Indian market with the help of reinsurers in London.

Malay is at present practicing as an Independent Risk management and Risk Audit Professional. His current activities include Gap Analysis and advising buyers of insurance on Emerging Risks & optimum utilisation of insurance. He is also advising on Underwriting/ Claims Standards of insurance/ Reinsurance companies.

Malay is widely known in Indian Insurance market. Many of the present day Senior Executives in Insurance Industries in India, Middle East and Africa are Malay’s erstwhile colleagues.

Malay is an Associate of Indian Insurance Institute and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management.
